Free Time? I’ve got none…but I want to help.

You’ve got to juggle work, school, social engagements, family responsibilities, and somehow find time to sleep too!  You care about our community and want to help, but until we evolve beyond the point of needing sleep, you just don’t have the time. So what can you do? Is there a way to help that doesn’t require you to search for time in your hectic schedule?

Sure there is! While CCHFH thrives on volunteer resources, we are also happy to accept monetary donations, which we can put to equally valuable use. And, even better, all your donations are tax deductible.

If this seems like a good option for you, you can donate in the following ways:

  1. Click the Donate on the right hand side of any page
  2. Call us at 208-459-3344 to make a donation by credit card.
  3. Mail cash, checks, or money orders to 5214 E Cleveland Blvd, Suite C, Caldwell, ID 83607.

Remodeling? Donate materials, appliances, even vehicles for a tax deduction

You can remodel the house or clean out the garage and get a tax deduction by donating new and used personal property to the Canyon County Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH).

Donate your old car, computer, office furniture, working appliances, and lighting fixtures that can be sold in the CCHFH ReStore. They would be thrilled to have any new and used building materials, even unopened paint and cleaning products they can use to build homes.

CCHFH makes it really convenient for you, too; they will arrange to tow the vehicle from your home and get you an estimate of its fair market value for your tax forms. People really like this program because it saves you the hassle of selling or towing your old jalopy.

Donating to CCHFH, you know the proceeds of your donation will stay in Canyon County and maybe even help your neighbors. Open weekdays in the Caldwell Wall Mart Shopping Center, 5214 E Cleveland Blvd, Suite C. The ReStore has a full-time staff person on hand from 9 to 5 to take your donation.

Keep in mind that the tax benefit for charitable contributions is only available for taxpayers who itemize deductions. Those who take a standard deduction receive no additional tax benefit for their contributions. Check out the IRS faqs at www.irs.gov/faq’s/index.html and tips on charitable giving in Idaho at http://tax.idaho.gov. The key to claiming a deduction is to use the right form and list a reliable fair market value for the property donated.
